Tuesday in Haiti

Today was a duplicate of yesterday. We visited another church/school with About 100 children. Nate shared the creation story with an interpreter and all of our students helped act out the different days of creation. It was very funny to see the children laugh and smile as we shared the story.
Not only did we teach the children the Bible, but we were able to encourage all of them to return to that church whenever worship was happening. Many of them only go to school and not church. We pray that God will lead them to go to church with their families.
After lunch several Of our guys joined Tommy at the old orphanage tearing down the old buildings. They enjoyed doing that until Tommy fell through a roof. Then they decided it was quitting time. Tommy was just fine, although Payton thought he was dead.
The rest of the group spent the afternoon at Children's Hope playing with the kids. We got one on one with the children and read them books in English, teaching them English vocabulary. It was awesome seeing how smart these children really are and how they flourish with special attention. We also gave them a tiny toy propellers that they could spend high in the air. The leaders will be picking propellers off the roofs and out of trees for weeks.
Now we are fellowshipping and resting at the Alabama House. It just so happens to be Troy's birthday!
Our students are wonderful and God has brought a great bond of unity between our group. It truly is an example of the body of Christ. Yesterday as we were deconstructing, every student picked a different job and did it with joy, even if they had never torn down a building before.
We are Excited to have one more day, but are sad that it will be over all too soon.

Monday in Haiti

Today was awesome and our students are awesome! We were led in a devotion by Jack Amster at breakfast and then made our way to Pastor Paul's church/school and led 120+ kids in a time of Bible Learning (Creation Account), crafts, music, and games. Sarah Grace shared a testimony and our students led the story and activities.
After that we stopped in a beautiful cove by downtown Jacmel (the original New Orleans) and took pics.
After lunch we made our way to the new Children's Hope and had one on one teaching times with the kids, working specifically on math and English. It was amazing the joy they got from learning and succeeding. These kids are so loving and it's easy to see why everyone who goes wants to return.
After this we went to the old orphanage and helped Tommy Schwindling continue deconstructing the old buildings and salvaging the good wood for future work.
We had time to ride the zip line, although John could only make it half way. Then a donkey named Hosanna bit Lyndsey and she had to take a brief break from working:)
We look forward to an awesome Tuesday tomorrow.

Sunday

This morning we had a great breakfast as Ann Louise led us in a devotion. Then we went to a Haitian Christian church led by Pastor Paul. They sang for a a couple hours with passion and conviction, interspersed with testimonies of Gods provision and miracles. After church we returned to Children's Hope, broke the children into 3 groups and they rotated to dancing, art, and bracelet making led by our students. After that we went to Church on the Beach and worshipped with about 40 American short and long term missionaries. We worshipped under a cool hut surrounded by mountains, goats, cows, kids, and ocean......Magnificent! Now we are back at the Alabama House waiting to eat Spaghetti made by Tommy Schwindling. It was a great Sunday.
